The African Cup of Nations set for 2022 may be cancelled. The competition was initially set for 2021 before the covid-19 pandemic caused it to be pushed to 2022.

The Civil War & COVID-19 situation in Cameroon has already made the draw untenable, and there are discussions that AFCON may just be suspended altogether.

If AFCON is also suspended it would be a huge shame, but is extremely predictable.

It’s at such a short notice, and Cameroon already lost out on their last AFCON in 2019.
It could be rescheduled, but there is no window for it. 2022 World Cup & the China CWC take up the spots reserved. The upcoming weeks and months would be very crucial as everyone would be waiting for decisions taken by CAF.
