Villa have tried hard in the pass days and weeks to keep their star man Grealish, by offering him an improved deal, but a transfer for a record fee between English clubs is poised to be completed. The 25-year-old English player has spent his whole career with his boyhood team.
Grealish had returned to training with Villa on Monday after his holidays in Mykonos and Dubrovnik. In respect of his boyhood club, he maintained a professional manner as the squad went through their paces. He held discussions with sporting director Johan Lange and was clear in taking the next step up in his career.
City, Villa and Grealishβs representatives are involved in the last stages of negotiations after Villa added to their attacking options by signing Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen for about Β£30m.
Villa want to build a side to challenge the top six in the Premier League as They look forward to adding Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse, Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham, Todd Cantwell of Norwich City and Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe from the cash received from the Grealish deal.Sportsmail revealed in March that City had become favourites to sign the exciting Villa midfielder and they have maintained a dogged pursuit, opening talks over their bid last week and offering his Β£100m clause last Friday.

Grealish will now get the chance to play on the Champions League stage and cement his place as one of the best midfielders in Europe.
City are also maintaining their pursuit of his England teammate Harry Kane from Tottenham though that deal will not be as straightforward despite Kane staying away from training this week.It is a signing of huge intent from the Premier League champions as Pep Guardiola looks to retain the domestic title and go one further in the Champions League.

Spain will face Brazil in the Olympics Men’s football final after penalty and extra time drama in the semi-finals.
La Roja booked their spot by beating tournament hosts Japan 1-0 on Tuesday as Marco Asensio scored the only goal of the game in extra time to set up a final meeting with Brazil at the International Yokohama Stadium this weekend.
Meanwhile, Brazil saw off Mexico after winning 4-1 on penalties in Saitama to ensure their third consecutive Olympics men’s finals
The game finished 0-0 and an extra 30 minutes couldn’t spank a winner but it was Brazil who came out on top in the spot kicks.
Brazil celebrates semi-finals win Japan gave a great account of themselves in their last-four clash with Spain, sticking to a disciplined defensive shape while looking for opportunities to hit their opponents on the break.
La Roja were denied a penalty after a VAR review, but neither side really looked like breaking the deadlock in the first 90 minutes, and extra time was needed to find a victor.
Asensio proved to be the matchwinner in the 116th minute, picking the ball up in the box before curling a beautiful strike into the far corner of the net.
Just under one month on from their Confederations Cup final defeat to Argentina, Brazil are in another final, this time at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games.
The Selecao, led by the now 38-year-old Dani Alves, were unable to find a way past semi-final opponents Mexico in either normal time or extra time, but recorded a comfortable 4-1 win in the penalty shoot-out.
Arsenalβs Gabriel Martinelli, Borussia Dortmund striker Reiner, Dani Alves and Lyonβs Bruno Guimaraes all converted their spot-kicks, while only Carlos Rodriguez was able to find the back of the net for Mexico, in a disappointing end to a stellar Olympic campaign.Dani Alves shows Brilliance and strength.
The most decorated man in football history With a final at hand, former Barcelona man Dani Alves has a chance to extend his record as the most decorated player in the history of menβs football. Currently on 42, he is four clear of former team-mate Lionel Messi, but the Argentine is likely to add to his current tally going forwards.
Alves, on the other hand, is not. Now 38, this could well be his last chance for silverware, something which will be sure to spur both he and his team on.π Champions League
