Villarreal and Manchester United will face for the fifth time, with each of the previous four meetings finishing nil-nil in the UEFA Champions League between 2005-06 and 2008-09. Manchester United have faced Villarreal more times without ever scoring than they have any other opponent in their hIstory.

This will be Manchester United’s eighth major European Final, the second-most of any English club after LIverpool (14). They have been crowned winners in five of the previous seven finals,losing only against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League in both 2008-09 and 2010-11.

Villarreal have reached a major European final for the first time in their history, becoming the 11th different Spanish side to do so. The previous two Spanish sides to reach a major European final for the first time also faced an English opponent in that match (Alaves 4-5 Liverpool in the 2000-01 UEFA Cup and Sevilla 4-0 Middlesbrough in the 2005-06 UEFA Cup).

On each of the last nine occasions of a Spanish side facing English opposition in a European competition final (including Super Cups).the Spanish club has won the match. The last to lose were Alaves against Liverpool in the 2000-01 UEFA Cup.

Manchester United ,would be the ninth side in 22 seasons to win the UEFA Cup/Europa League having been eliminated in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League that season since this method was introduced in 1 999-20DO. The most recent instance was Atletico de Madrid in 2017 /18. while the only previous English side to do so were Chelsea in 2012-13.

Ronaldo won the Italian Cup, Italian Super Cup and was Serie A top Scorer this season

The Portugal captain, 36, who joined Juve from Real Madrid in 2018, has a year left on his contract. Ronaldo has won two Serie A titles, the Coppa Italia and two Italian Super Cups but Juve failed to win the league this season for the first time since 2011.

He said: “I have to value everything we achieved this season at Juventus, both in collective and individual terms.”

During his three years in Italy, Ronaldo has also been named Serie A footballer of the year twice, and was the competition’s top scorer in the season just completed.

In an Instagram post, he added: “The Italian Super Cup, the Italian Cup and the Serie A Top Scorer trophy fill me with happiness, mainly due to the difficulty they carry with them, in a country where nothing is easy to win.

“With these achievements, I reached a goal that I had set myself since the first day I arrived in Italy: to win the Championship, the Cup and the Super Cup, and also to be Best Player and Top Scorer in this great football country.”

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward has won major individual and team honours with clubs in three countries.

“Nothing compares to the feeling of knowing that I’ve left my mark in the countries where I’ve played,” he added.

This season he scored his 100th goal for Juventus, having also passed the milestone at Real Madrid, where he scored 450 times, and United ,where he got 118 goals.

He also passed 760 career goals, giving him a disputed claim to being the highest scorer of all time.

Juventus secured a Champions League spot on Sunday, having seen their run of nine straight Serie A titles ended, with Inter Milan winning the league.

Bayern Munich fans were speechless when they heard the news: despite his 41 goals, a historic record, Robert Lewandowski was not voted Bundesliga player of the year. It was Erling Haaland, author of a very good season with Dormtund (27 goals and 8 assists in 28 games), who won the trophy for the first time.

The five other managers in contention were Leeds’ Marcelo Bielsa, Norwich City’s Daniel Farke, Chelsea Women’s Emma Hayes, David Moyes of West Ham and Leicester’s Brendan Rodgers.

He was nominated and won on the bases that he led the club to their third Premier League title in four years, Carabao Cup win and face Chelsea in the Champions League final on Saturday.

“I am delighted to win the LMA manager of the year award for the second time,” said Guardiola, who previously won it in 2017-18.

“It is, for me, such a special trophy to win because it is voted for by my fellow managers. An award like this is only possible though if a manager is surrounded by top professionals.

“My players have been fantastic – their dedication and professionalism never wavered, even in a season that has been the most challenging we have ever faced.

Liverpool secure top four finish despite all ups and downs

There was also a fond farewell to Netherlands midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, whose contract expires this summer, with a post-match guard of honour.

Juventus who came into the game at the back of winning the Italian supa cup, faced the prospect of a first season without Champions League football since 2011-12. But goals from Chiesa 6′, morata 29′ 47′ and Rabiot meant Juventus was going to play champions league next season.

After Amir Rrahmani’s 60th-minute strike for Napoli, Davide Faraoni equalised for Verona to send Gennaro Gattuso’s side into the Europa League. They needed a win to go through above Juventus but failed to get that.

Juventus qualified alongside AC Milan who finished 12pts behind Inter at second while Atalanta finished third and Juventus fourth position as Inter Milan won the Title.

Champions of French Ligue 1

Lille claimed a narrow away 2:1 victory against Angers to finish one point ahead of Paris St-Germain and clinch their fourth Ligue 1 title. Paris St-Germain beat Brest 2-0 but failed to lift the crown for only the second time in nine years as they finish second.

Monaco, who drew 0-0 with Lens, took the final Champions League spot after Lyon lost 3-2 to Nice. Making a remarkable campaign for both clubs finishing in the top four.

Lyon will be in next season’s Europa League while Marseille and Rennes qualify for the Europa Conference League.

Nantes are set for a relegation play-off with Toulouse in four days’ time after losing 2-1 at home to Montpellier.

PSG forward Mbappe won best Ligue 1 player and the Golden boot after ending the season with 27 goals while team mate KeylorNavas won the best goalkeeper award.

Lille played 38 games winning 24, 11 draws and 3 defeat scoring 60 goals in total. Lille key players this season were forward Yilmaz who scored 16 goals, Bamba who assisted 9 times and captain Jose Fonte who was a massive impact in their title race.

Manchester city where crowned champions for the third time in fours in grand style. They pulled up a fantastic display at home to Everton as Sergio Aguero marked his final appearance at Etihad Stadium with two goals as the new Premier League champions ended their domestic campaign with a thumping 5:0 win.

There were City supporters inside their stadium for the first time this season, and they were able to enjoy a dominant performance from start to finish, topped by Aguero’s farewell goals and seeing the Premier League trophy lifted after full-time.
