The Dutch midfielder’s deal with the reds expired at the end of this season with alot of speculations about him joining Spanish giants Barcelona as he was a key target of Ronald Koeman.
However, PSG, who finished second in Ligue 1 last season, are understood to have stepped in with a better offer and Wijnaldum has opted to join them. Mauricio Pochettino at PSG is also thought to have been a factor while he changed his mind against Barcelona.
According to @FabrizioRomano: Georginio Wijnaldum has signed a contract with Paris Saint-Germain, until June 2024. Medicals pending in the next hours then it’ll be official.
Gini changed his mind yesterday – he’s not joining Barça and he’s now a new PSG player with salary more than doubled [compared to Barça bid]. This comes after Barcelona had no intentions of raising their bid.
Wijnaldum, who is part of the Netherlands squad for Euro 2020, made 237 appearances for Liverpool, where he won the Premier League and Champions League.

PSG are set to complete the signing of Gianluigi Donnarumma in the next hours, Juventus are out of the race – he’s gonna ask Paris for n99 shirt. To be clear: Keylor Navas is staying. 🧤🇫🇷 #PSG
