The CAF delegation is in Cameroon

Seven months before the kick-off of the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for next January in Cameroon, a CAF delegation led by Secretary General Veron Mosengo-Omba was welcomed on Monday, June 14 at the Airport. Yaoundé-Nsimalen International for a two-day mission.

On the meetings agenda was to set up a permanent CAF office in Cameroon and to set the new bases for the draw ceremony initially on June 25 and postponed to a later date for better preparation of the grandiose event as per infor published by CAF.

After the Monday meeting with the President of COCAN and Cameroonian Minister of Sports, Prof. Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, the program for the marathon day on Tuesday June 15 includes a visit to the Olembe Sports Complex, the inauguration of the CAF office and finally a press briefing scheduled at FECAFOOT headquarters from 5:00 p.m. (Cameroon time).

According to information from CAF twitter account, Six (6) sites and no longer four (4) will be used for the flagship African competition. Four sites had been selected for the event: Ahmadou Ahidjo from Yaoundé, Douala-Japoma, Douala-Bepanda and Limbé-Buea.

The twenty-four (24) team Africa Cup of Nations requires more resources and careful preparation. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, CAF and Cameroon intend to take up the challenge of the organization to make the event a global success, as desired by the President of CAF, Dr Patrice Motsepe.

Mosengo-Omba is accompanied by the Deputy Secretary General in charge of development and football, Anthony Baffoe, the Director of Competitions Samson Adamu, the Commercial Director Ali Aissaoui, the assistant to the Office of the Secretary General of CAF, Sandra Latorre, as well as Collins Smith, Head of FIFA Tournaments and Events.

This visit will take place mainly in Yaoundé until June 16. All information confirmed from CAF official Twitter account.
